Description: An elegant, Grand Tour marble sculpture of Aphrodite, circa late 18th / early 19th century. This bust was sourced in … more An elegant, Grand Tour marble sculpture of Aphrodite, circa late 18th / early 19th century. This bust was sourced in the South of France on our most recent trip.

This impressive head is depicted with her face turned and gaze into the distance. Her almond shaped eyes are framed by well carved eyelids. Pronounced brow ridges add to the intensity of the face.

Grand Tour collectors would have been familiar with the Venus De Milo depictions and thus she is depicted here with a bare torso.

Bust is mounted on a pedestal (pictured) but is not permanently attached.
