Comments on This Painting: Theodore Wassmer (American, born 1910 Salt Lake City, Utah - died 2006 Salt Lake City, Utah) Modernist Portrait of Francis Dedrich Oil on Board Circa 1948. Francis Dederick was a fellow artist and friend to Wassmer.

Comments on This Artist: Theodore Wassmer (February 23, 1910 – November 26, 2006) attended school at the American Art School in New York where he studied with artist Raphael Soyer and went on to the Art Students League where he attended classes of Jon Corbino, Yasua Kuniyoshi, Sigmund Menkes to name a few. For years Wassmer had a studio in Carnegie Hall where he painted portraits and created a technique which he calls Glapasto. Wassmer has had one man shows in New York, California, Utah, Nebraska, Florida and Texas. He produced more than 2,000 works of art including paintings, watercolors, and sketches that are displayed in museums around the world. In his personal life, he married fellow artist Judy Farnsworth Lund in December 1945. less
