The print is on Hahnemuhle German etching paper which has a beautiful organic texture and reps. roduces colors beautifully. The image is from a trip to Western China in 2018, a few months before Covid started. This area is sparsely inhabited and the region looks and feels remote and specially created for photographer
Devoid of human presence, the dunes near Dunhuang are part of the larger Gobi Desert region, though they are specifically associated with the Mingsha Shan (Singing Sand Dunes). Dunhuang is located in Gansu Province, China, on the edge of the Taklamakan Desert and the Gobi Desert. The Mingsha Shan dunes are famous for their towering sand formations, which can reach heights of up to 250 meters (820 feet) and produce a "singing" sound when the sand shifts under certain conditions.
