Description: Offered is an unusual antique sterling silver bon bon nut spoon with a pierced gold washed bowl featuring the coat … more Offered is an unusual antique sterling silver bon bon nut spoon with a pierced gold washed bowl featuring the coat of arms of the British monarchy. The hallmarks are worn but it is believed to have been made ca 1900 by a Canadian maker.
The spoon is 4 1/2" long and weighs 18 grams.
Stamped ]STERLING' on the back along with additional illegible hallmarks.

This form of fancy gold washed pierced bon bon spoons was made ca 1900 by Whiting in a number of patterns. Likely also made by various British makers. This spoon is believed to have been made by a Toronto maker; possibly PW Ellis. A very similar bon bon spoon with a pierced British coat of arms bowl was made by the the Toronto firm Roden. The hallmarks are not English.
