Fascinating late 19th century Japanese Meiji period four panel folding byobu screen. Made in the Nihonga school style with Rimpa school influence and bearing a Rimpa school seal Inen. The unsigned work painted after Tawaraya Sotatsu (Japanese 1570-1643) depicts flowering plants and grasses including Pampas grass (left) and bush clover (right). Ink and color natural pigments on hand-made mulberry paper set into a black lacquered wood frame with a gold silk brocade border. Beautifully painted with delicate artistry
