A fine ca. 1820-1830 rectangular French gilt wood mirror, with elegant applied ornament and good original gilding. Very refined and slender Neoclassical elements are clustered at the corners and punctuate the cove of the frame: medallions and guilloche, waterleaf and acanthus scrolls tipped with elongated palmettes create decorative interest. Good antique condition: a very nice antique surface, the frame shows expected signs of age, wear, patina and the antique mirror plate shows some irregularities, minor de-silvering. Later wooden back.
