Circa 1825-28 coin silver sugar tongs, New York & Charleston. Shell end, sheaf of wheat motif large tongs. By Pelletreau, Bennett & Cook, see Belden, p. 330. Bennett, Cook & Co, Charleston 1825-28 advertised their connection to the NYC firm of PB&C, 170 Broadway. Although these tongs have a Southern history, it is likely they were made in New York. Heavy gauge silver. 2.10 troy oz.
