Here we have an exquisite set of two vintage caviar spoons.
They are made from mother of pearl (MOP) with a silver handle that ends in a seashell. One is Victorian-era with a carved filigree design on the handle, while the other has a smooth silver handle. Both are just to die for - the iridescence of the MOP and shells create a pearlescent effect that shifts and glints in the light.
Historically, these spoons were used to serve food from the sea - think roe or caviar - since salt won’t damage the shell like it would silver. But even if you’re not hosting elaborate, under-the-sea-themed parties, you can still put these beauties to use as sugar spoons or simply as unique decorative pieces.
