The brass hardware is original and has been polished to bring out the character and luster. The top has the original bonded leather insert in a Black finish with 24 carat gold tooling around the edges. The top was repolished and has some imperfections that you would expect from normal wear for a vintage piece. There are two original locks and a key that are included (not installed) with the desk and can be reinstalled by the customer if they choose to use the locks for a couple of drawers. The desk has a built-in bookcase on the backside which allows you to "float" the desk away from the wall with the back facing out. less
