the credenza, made by portois & fix in vienna around 1905, is a masterpiece of viennese modernism and embodies the highest level of craftsmanship and artistic design. The softwood body was veneered with mahogany, stained rosewood and finally finished with an exquisite shellac hand polish, which creates an elegant, deeply shiny surface.
particularly noteworthy are the extraordinary brass applications, which underline the unique character of the furniture with their combination of geometric and floral motifs. These detailed decorations give the sideboard a fascinating aesthetic and allow the clear, structured shape to merge with playful elegance.
the harmonious combination of reduced lines and artistic ornaments reflects the typical stylistic characteristics of the vienna secession, in which functionality and artistic expression are in perfect balance.
