We are offering a rare and elegant set of six Art Deco dining chairs, attributed to the renowned Gauthier-Poinsignon workshop, active in the École de Nancy.
These remarkable pieces, dating from around 1920, embody the excellence of French design from the interwar period.
Detailed :
Material:
Solid walnut, a noble and warm wood, finely carved.
Each chair features refined sculptural work with a vine theme: grape clusters, leaves, and tendrils are meticulously crafted, evoking the richness of nature and the naturalistic elegance characteristic of the École de Nancy.
Upholstery: Seats and backs covered in original leather, now worn and in need of restoration or replacement.
Dimensions:
Total height: 98 cm
Seat height: 51 cm (an ideal proportion for a classic or contemporary dining room).
Depth: 44 cm
Width: 44 cm
Overall Condition:
Structure:
In good condition, showing the robustness of walnut, ensuring great longevity and the quality of craftsmanship. Beautiful natural patina with minor signs of wear consistent with the age of the pieces.
Webbing and padding:
In good condition, providing a solid base for upholstery work.
Leather Upholstery:
The seats and backs are covered in their original leather, which, although now worn, reflects the authenticity of the pieces.
The leather shows significant signs of wear (cracks, discoloration) and requires restoration or replacement to restore the chairs to their former glory.
A Testament to Art Deco Refinement:
These chairs represent the perfect combination of functionality and aesthetics, typical of the École de Nancy creations.
Their timeless design makes them an ideal choice for a chic and sophisticated interior or for collectors of period furniture seeking unique pieces.
These chairs are attributed to Gauthier-Poinsignon, a renowned workshop of the École de Nancy, known for works marking the transition between Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
The École de Nancy, an iconic movement of Art Nouveau, evolved over the decades to embrace the Art Deco style, where refined and functional aesthetics dominate. These chairs perfectly embody this artistic transition.
An Exceptional Set for Connoisseurs:
This set of 6 chairs offers a unique opportunity to acquire pieces of furniture that reflect a distinctive style and era.
These chairs are not just furniture; they are an artistic heritage, a dialogue between tradition and modernity, and a celebration of French craftsmanship.
