Design Plus Gallery presents a Home Office Tansu by Berkeley Mills. Crafted with solid Honduras mahogany woods and sapele pomele drawer and door fronts. In good condition, visible and minimal wear from usage + age. Made in California, USA. Signed and dated August 1999.
"Berkeley Mills makes tansu furniture for every room in your home, from kitchen to home office, bedroom to dining room, media room to living room. A kitchen tansu can function as sideboard and cabinet in one; a kaidan or step tansu can serve as a room divider while holding china, glassware, books, or other possessions.
The Japanese Tansu first appeared in the middle of the 17th century, during the Edo period, yet its versatile design makes it eminently suitable to 21st-century lives. Basically a collection of stacked wooden boxes and cabinets, the Tansu represents the ideal fusion of form and function.
