- Original Thonet bentwood stool with Viennese weave from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century from … more Original Thonet bentwood stool with Viennese weave from the end of the 19th or beginning of the 20th century from the company JThonet, Austria. The stool is made of bent beech wood and has a second bentwood ring below the seat for stability. Michael Thonet developed this construction principle and applied it to many of his chairs and stools. Thonet - company stamp and fragment of the paper label under the seat - see pictures. The stool is in very good restored condition: all screws are tight, the shellac surfaces have been renewed and the hand-woven Viennese braid was professionally renewed in a Schwerin braiding workshop. less
