An early 20th-century pen and ink portrait of an old woman wearing a head scarf features an abundance of texture, shadow, and pattern done in fine parallel cross-hatching. This piece is professionally framed in a walnut frame with a wide linen mat and a gold band, protected under museum-quality anti-glare glass, and it is signed 'Amerine' in the lower right corner.
This artwork was purchased from the daughter of a close friend of the artist, Weldon Amerine, of Beaumont, Texas. She met him as a young girl and later inherited three illustrations from her parents, including this one.
