Vintage Trompe l'oeil faux 'pile of books' chest / decorative box by Andres de Morgades for his and Don Russell's eponymous company, Don Andres (ca. 1970s/80s, USA).
Composed of a lacquered wooden stacked books structure with hand-painted / gilt details that unexpectedly opens via brass hinges to reveal a paper lined interior storage compartment.
Attractive decorator piece in very good, vintage condition with only minimal wear to the original lacquer and light spotting to the interior.
Artist hand-painted signature present and retains the manufacturer's tag.
