A large vintage 'Orkidea' (Orchid) vase designed by Timo Sarpameva for Iittala in 1953. Marked with incised signature 'TIMO SARPANEVA 3868' on the base. An authentic piece of Finnish glass design of the 1950s. Awarded with a Grand Prix on the Milan Triennale in 1954.

Timo Sarpaneva (1926 - 2006) was not only the artist who designed the 'i' logo for Iittala. His groundbreaking work combines art with useful design. In addition to glass, Timo Sarpaneva also worked with textiles, wood, porcelain and metal. His unique industrial design helped Finland to its worldwide reputation in the design world. His artwork has been awarded the Lunning Prize and twice at the Milan Triennale.
