The piano stool is made of solid wood and has a frame with a bentwood ring. The curved feet are held together by the wooden ring made of curved wood. The stool is heavy and very stable. Height adjustable from 47 cm to approx. 63 cm with a long spindle. The seat is made of so-called Viennese wickerwork, the other parts are made of solid beech wood with artistic profiles. In this early model the seat ring is still supported by cross-shaped wood; in later models these were replaced by metal. The spindle runs well and has little play. The surfaces are stained dark and covered with shellac. Rare collector's item.

Condition: All screws are tightened. The hand-woven braid was professionally renewed in a braiding workshop in Schwerin. The stool has the original Thonet embossed stamp and remains of the paper label under the seat - see detail picture. Based on these remains, the period of manufacture can be narrowed down to between 1881 and 1922. The spindle was re-welded at the top - see picture no. 5.
