Description
George Thompson, a little-known but highly respected Steuben glass designer, was born in Nebraska and received degrees in architecture from the University of Minnesota and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 1936, he was award the MIT Class Medal and the Boston Institute of Architects Prize...George Thompson was for many years senior designer at Steuben. He joined the firm's design department upon its formation in 1936....Thompson's designs were included in every Steuben Glass exhibitions held from 1937 until his retirement in 1974. His works are in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Palais du Louvre in Paris and the National Gallery of Modern Art in New Delhi

This hand-blown fluid crystal "Centerpiece" Pedestal Compote has the solid circular plinth base surmounted by four applique "C" form legs supporting a flared rim bowl..
Stands approximately 43/4 inches tall with a 93/4’’inch top rim diameter.. bottom is 31/4’’
Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent to use light wear underside,with age..Base is signed - previously owned with only slight surface marks to the glass.
