I believe it is made from walnut, pretty rare these days. Not positive, but pretty sure.This great desk has a drop down door, like a secretary, exposing lots of wooden compartments, to store and organize anything you may use it for. Great for crafters, artists ,home office, you name it. The top also opens for additional secret storage. Fun to have a hidden space for only your knowledge. Check out pics of the front and back fully open. Stands strong and sturdy. Because of it's age, the wood is so lush and rustic. The desk is 60" tall but the top lid opens up an additional 12" so 72" tall with open lid. The clearance for knee space is 28" when front panel is closed, but when open its a dew inches higher.
