Ancient sculpture in hard-paste vitrified porcelain, entirely decorated by hand, finished in pure gold, depicting a court boy sitting on a stool with a small table intent on eating and with a little dog next to the table. Signed under the base with the ancient shield mark of the Imperial Manufactory of Vienna, embedded in the ceramic body, in addition to the letter "H" and the catalog number, "845".
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
The Vienna Imperial Manufactory was a porcelain manufactory based in Vienna, which existed from 1718 to 1864, and is considered one of the oldest and most important European manufactories. In the last photos we have put some historical notes in French on the manufacturing as reported in our volume "Manuel de la porcelaine européenne" and the enlarged photo of the brands used with the notes where, at brand 3 and 4 it says "en creux" i.e. incusso, excavated, just like ours, a mark used from 1744 until 1749, so ours is an authentic sculpture from the mid-1700s from the Imperial Manufacture of Vienna.
Useful information for evaluating the object:
Unfortunately I have not been able to find many porcelain sculptures from this 1700s manufacture for sale on other sites or recently auctioned, because they are very rare. In the last photo we have placed three sculptures: a very small hussar dwarf from 1700, sold for 1625 pounds, a figurine depicting the trouser mask sold for 6000 pounds, both plus auction fees of 25-30%. Finally, a small breakfast service, also from the 1700s, auctioned by Christie's with an estimate of 40,000-60,000 pounds, just to give an idea of the value of the 1700s porcelain from this manufacture.
Final thoughts on the object:
Other elements that confirm the authenticity of our sculpture are the beautiful ancient patina, especially under the base and the features of the child which are absolutely those of the sculptures and paintings of the 1700s, the child appears chubby, with a beautiful full face, rather stocky calves and robust build. The crimson color of the stool and the bottle of wine and the glass are beautiful. The base is entirely worked and richly embroidered in rococo style with the bottom decorated with golden cross tiles and light beautiful pink shades which are a real touch of class. Finally, the brush tip decorations on the blouse and especially on the bodice are beautiful. This piece has an attribution mark,
I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity
