Small perfume bottle in glazed hard-paste porcelain, entirely hand-decorated with hand-painted bas-relief decorations and finished in pure gold, signed under the base with an ancient mark with the N under the crown with five swollen and slightly rounded points towards the exterior, in blue under glaze, from the Ginori Doccia manufacture. The bottle is made in Empire style, and can be dated to the first half of the 19th century, around 1800-1830. In the last photo we have placed two small porcelain tobacco boxes from Ginori Doccia with very similar decorations which went to auction with rather high estimates.
Information on the artist and/or manufacturer:
The Ginori factory in Doccia was one of the most prestigious Italian porcelain factories. Born by will of the Marquis Carlo Ginori in 1737 in Doccia. The descendants of Carlo Ginori will continue to own and manage it until 1896, when the merger with the Società Ceramica Richard of Milan took place, giving life to the famous "Richard Ginori".
Final thoughts on the object:
The bottle cap is precious, with a circular crown of golden dots, a decoration that is repeated on the center of the neck of the bottle, and then again underneath two beautiful perfect concentric circles, again in gold, handmade, of great elegance. The decorations of the bottle are particularly valuable, entirely in relief, of a rare perfection in detail, even the rocks are in slight relief, in depth the mountains are only painted, not in relief, this to give an absolutely effective perspective effect. The seagulls are also all in light relief, a true porcelain work of art. The 4 bas-relief decorations are all in neoclassical style with various subjects: ladies, fauns, cherubs, goats, a piper and dames all from the classical Greek or Roman period.
