This iconic table lamp “Snoopy” by the Italian Design brothers Achille and Giacomo Castiglioni is a very rare piece from an early edition. This lamp is made of white Carrara marble with a subtle light grey pattern. The lampshade is in black raw laquered metal and not made of plastic like today. A thick crystal glass disk is on the underside of the shade to diffuse the light. Always thinking of innovation, Achille and Giacomo Castiglioni used an electronic turn dimmer allowing the brightness of the light to be adjusted.
Originally designed in 1967, the Snoopy lamp was famously inspired by the cartoon character of the little white dog Snoopy. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution,
