Spectacular hanging lamp by Toni Zuccheri with glass and chrome from the Space Age era. The mouth-blown pendant showcases the Italian art of glass. The corrugated globe shows inside different elevations in various heights, the transparent glass is interrupted by white glass strips. This gives the lamp a special lightness and brightness. The lamp is very impressive due to its size, but not imposing. The chrome of the bracket is still in good condition regarding its age and use.
Toni Zuccheri (1936 - 2008) was an designer and glass artist. Born in the province of Udine, he inherited from his father a passion for animals while seeing him at work. His father, Luigi Zuccheri was an animal painter. Toni studied Architecture at the University of Venice unter tutelage of the famous designer Carlo Scarpa, Franco Albini and Ignazio Gardella.
Toni Zuccheri took an interest in glass, and at very young age started working at Venini were he invented and reinvented working techniques, shapes and colors. His collection of glass birds was exhibited at the 1964 Biennale in Venice. In 1965 he met the architect Gio Ponti, and the two collaborated on stained glass windows.
Over the course of 40 years, in addition to unique items, Zuccheri executed small production series, including lighting for Venini, VeArt, Barovier and Toso. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
