Description: Pair of Pitocchi in Pastiglia decorated in shades of brown and ivory from the first half of the 1900s. One … more Pair of Pitocchi in Pastiglia decorated in shades of brown and ivory from the first half of the 1900s. One figure is identifiable as Rigoletto, the court jester, as indicated in the square base of the statue while the other is not identifiable but is certainly another a gender figure, a sort of caricature of a deformed character in advanced age and apparently suffering: the hunchback, the leek on the forehead, the painful posture and the anguished expression of the face constitute the elements of a grotesque physiognomy. On the back of the base of the Rigoletto we find the acronym MDPS probably referring to the manufacturing company. less
