The mirrors have been freshly secured and backed with new paper and a 100LB wire. The mirrors are purposely antiqued but structurally they are sold without scratches or chips. The frames have layers of chippy paint that has been sealed so it will not flake or age moving forward. * If kept in a good condition location. Here is a stunning pair of vintage oval foxed mirrors from the 20th century. They feature intricately carved giltwood and gesso frames adorned with raised acanthus leaf and rose designs along the inner rim. The hand painted deeply molded frames display bands of gilded ornamentation that have developed a beautiful patina from numerous layers of casein paint, revealing chips and wear that expose the colors of the hidden layers.
The mirrors are original to the frames and have been intentionally foxed to create a dramatic reflection. The desilvering has been replaced with a gold back layer, which warms the cool tones of the mirrors.
These mirrors are substantial and have a good deal of weight to them. They hang vertically from newly attached 100 lb picture wires, making them ideal for placement above a vanity in the bathroom, bedside, or entryway. This unique pair is completely one of a kind; you will not find another set like these, showcasing old-world charm.
