A set consisting of 8 "tulu" chairs, designed in the late 60s by the japanese designer kazhide takahama for the historic company simon gavina. The "tulu" chair is one of the first chairs to begin using steel bars. This is a revolutionary step up from bent metal tubes of the cantilever chairs. The use of steel bars made it possible to tighten the curves and could also be welded in more than one place so that the frames could be made in one single sitting allowing a more real, fast and precise industrial production. The tulu model stands out for its rigor and the clean lines of it's form, as well as having it's own language of poetic essentiality in wich the sign of from the oriental culture of takahama original training blend with those of the western culture in which he has since he became immersed. The strong points of these chairs made in italy in the 70s, in addition to the magnificent design, are that they are stackable and have removable covers. The upholstery was recently replaced by us with an ecru colored bouclé. The upholsterer replaced the padding while retaining the cardboard platform on which the brand label is attached. The rope that makes the seat springy and resistant has been replaced with a new one a few mm larger in diameter to increase its resistance and comfort. The steel bars structure is stable and solid but shows minimal signs of use and age with oxidation. this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution less
