This Fiorucci rare vintage 1981 Postmodern lithograph print New Wave Italian fashion custom framed Pop Art poster of the iconic cherub angels logo is an incredibly special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The lithograph print poster is published by Edizioni Beatrice Deste-Milano, printed in Italy in 1918 in an unnumbered limited edition by Arti Graphiche Ricordi, copyright Fiorucci.
The world famous Italian fashion brand was founded in 1967 by Elio Fiorucci. The first shop exposed Milan to the styles of swinging London and American classics such as the t-shirt and jeans. By the late 1970's and early 1980's this would be reversed, and the New York store would become famous for the fashions it introduced in The United States.
In the early 1980's the Fiorucci boutique in New York City was the epicenter of the New Wave Postmodern fashion scene. It was the place to be, and referred to as " The Daytime Studio 54 ". It attracted trendsetters including Andy Warhol, Jackie O., Debbie Harry, Truman Capote, and a young Madonna, among many other creative and well known people.
Fiorucci made better posters than any other fashion brand ever did. The posters sold the clothing for sure, but the posters were the product also. They were hugely desirable. The clothing inside the closet / posters hung on the closet door. Fiorucci posters were a collectible Pop culture phenomenon.
The image of the fashion label's cherub angels was designed by the Italian graphic designer Italo Lupi ( 1934 - 2023 ). He chose the image portraying two cherub angels because it was completely different to what Fiorucci was doing in fashion. It juxtaposed their bright bold style with a historical aesthetic, and was indeed different from the mainstream branding of the time. It perfectly communicated the freedom and creativity of Fiorucci. It soon became a world-famous Pop icon of itself associated with the cutting edge and Avant-Garde new style of the Italian fashion brand.
The rare out of print framed New Wave fashion Pop Art poster measures 24 3/8" W X 34 1/2" H X 1 1/4" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern aqua turquoise blue anodized metal satin finish box style frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent condition. The poster print is in excellent vintage condition consistent with age, light moderate signs of handling, and some light to moderate visible surface wear. It is brand newly custom framed and has never been displayed. Please see photos for condition reference. It is now being offered here for an excellent price. less
