Info:
The rich color of Koa can be damaged by continuous exposure to direct sunlight. Do not put your Koa in direct sunlight. We also suggest that an occasional gentle wiping of koa with a high grade furniture oil will extend the life and finish
Acacia Koa grows ONLY in Hawaii. It does not grow anywhere else. Sometimes people confuse Koa with other tree species from the "Acacia genus." However, the species "Acacia Koa" is endemic to Hawaii.
Martin & MacArthur’s craftsmen have been the premier makers of koa furniture and beautiful home accessories for more than 50 years
The Koa grown in each Hawaiian Island looks different. Martin & MacArthur uses only Koa wood harvested from the Big Island of Hawaii because this wood shows off the richest color and grain.
In the late 1700’s koa wood was already so highly regarded that it was “kapu” or prohibited for anyone to possess koa wood except the Hawaiian monarchs and ali’i royalty class.
Today, Koa is still highly regarded for its beauty
Due to Hawaii maintaining very strict harvesting of Koa and self-regulation, Koa will remain a vital and thriving resource in Hawaii for future generations to enjoy less
