They basically move in every direction, offering max flexibility in a conversation circle and changing light conditions. They are also perfect for baby rocking without the trip hazard of traditional rockers. Have been well cared for since we had them custom made in 2011. This is an identical pair. The front of the arms are only slightly worn. Super smooth 360 degree movement. less
