Monoprint
A fun and edgy one-off original monoprint presented in a coloured frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.
This monoprint is created from two individual stencils, layered to create a dynamic interaction of line, form and colour. Where the shapes overlap, the rich, oil-based inks merge to produce unique hues, adding depth and vibrancy. Variations in the transparency and thickness of ink contribute texture, enhancing the layered conversation between the materials and the composition’s visual elements.
This composition explores juxtapositions, both formally and conceptually, between two different environments – the urban city and the rural countryside. The straight and angled lines allude to the urban cityscape, while the curved and more organic forms are reminiscent of the rolling countryside. Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.
