Josef Frank was inspired by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York when he created Hawai. In the museum he found a remarkable collection of Trees of Life from the north side of the Indian peninsula. The Hawaii print, with its matted stems, is similar to these trees. The print was designed in 1943-1945 and is one of Josef Frank’s largest prints with a 180 cm repeat. This piece has an attribution mark,
