Valenti Michael Angelo (1897-1982) "Rooster" linocut on paper, pencil signed and titled.
Angelo was an Italian American printmaker and author. He illustrated many books including Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass," many editions of the Bible, and other works for Grabhorn Press of San Francisco and Viking Press. His children's book "Nino" was awarded Newbery Honor in 1939 as a finalist for the Newbery Medal.
"Rooster" was probably created during publication process of his "The Rooster Club" in 1944.
