Description: Early to middle 20th century Tibetan Buddha Box. Hand painted and hand carved. Three Jewels of Buddhism are painted in … more Early to middle 20th century Tibetan Buddha Box. Hand painted and hand carved. Three Jewels of Buddhism are painted in the center of the top as Buddhist symbol Triratna. Adorned with painting of Mahakala Skelton faces each toped with a Tibetan Jewel. The Jewels are the Buddha, the Dhamma, and the Sangha, each represented by a color ball. Mahakala is good. He is a Dharma protector, a wrathful deity who guards the Buddhist path of wisdom and compassion. This is a real Buddha Box once used for holding and housing a Buddha. This is one type of box created by the Sangha for real use. The front panel slides up to place and remove the Buddha statue that would be housed inside. In good condition. A wonderful Tibetan Folk Art piece that makes a wonderful artful display piece. Each Tibetan Buddha House or Box is hand made by an individual of the practice, a member of the Sangha making them very specail and individual. Collected in Tibet,
