This is an early vintage, near antique copper (or at least copper color, but I think the shade is copper) hanging light fixture or chandelier. It includes the chain and original ceiling mount cover. I hooked it up to an electric cord and plugged it into the wall and it works perfectly.
It has the original porcelain mogul light socket, which requires a mogul bulb. I had the mogul bulb that was with it when I purchased it and will include it, but do not guarantee the bulb will arrive in working condition due to the fragile nature of light bulbs. You can still purchase mogul bulbs to go in it, or if you wish to use more modern bulbs all you have to do is purchase a mogul-to-standard adapter from your hardware store (or online) and screw it into the mogul socket. I checked online (Walmart, Ace Hardware, Home Depot, etc.) and the price for an adapter is about $4-7, depending upon where you get it. Personally, I like the authenticity of using an original mogul bulb, but maybe that's just me. :)
Surprisingly (due to its age), it has very little patina -- it is in excellent condition.
It has a 3-way turn on/off switch at the very bottom of the fixture (see photo). Turn it clockwise until it clicks and it turns on for light. Turn it clockwise again and the light is brighter, and turn it again and the light gets even brighter. Turn it again and it turns back off. The switch turns easily and flawlessly.
It measures 16" diameter and hangs from the ceiling about 27" (ceiling to bottom of fixture) when using the full length of the chain. There is wiring enough to add perhaps 7-8 more chain links (if desired), and, of course, you can remove chain links if you do not wish it to hang down the full 27".
It includes a white repeated square milk glass light diffuser. There are absolutely no chips, cracks or smudges, etc. in this early mid century vintage diffuser. The diffuser fits perfectly, and I believe it is original to the fixture.
I can imagine this light fixture hanging over a kitchen table in manly or rustic setting, or perhaps in a den area. less
