This original artwork, titled "nombre no válido 2", is part of Natasha Lelenco’s "nombre no válido" series, created on a tondo of reclaimed cork wood from tree cuttings in Galicia. The painting features a cheerful happy face emoticon, crafted from vibrant green clover leaves and small blue flowers, all meticulously painted in acrylic. The combination of these natural motifs with the universally recognized emoticon creates a dynamic interplay between nature and digital communication. The smooth, rounded shape of the smile and eyes emerges from the textured surface, blending with the organic patterns of the clover. The edges of the cork wood, painted in bright yellow and blue, accentuate the piece's natural irregularities, adding a sculptural dimension that enhances its presence. The integration of the emoticon with clover leaves, symbols of luck and nature, highlights the contrast between the natural world and modern symbols of happiness. The bright color palette and natural elements, such as the clover and small flowers, evoke a sense of harmony between the organic and the artificial. Natasha Lelenco’s use of acrylic on cork wood allows for sharp detailing and vibrant colors, with the clover leaves carefully layered to add depth and texture to the surface. This work, like the others in the series, reflects on the evolution of language, where emoticons have become naturalized in our daily communication. By merging these symbols with elements of the natural world, Lelenco invites the viewer to explore the intersection of nature, art, and digital expression.
