Dimensions: 40 ⅛” H x 52 ¼” W x 24 ⅜” D
Made in the Netherlands, circa 1820, this is a very fine example of a French Empire commode. Carefully refinished to bring out the historic beauty, this piece features an ebonized top over a case of bookmatched mahogany. The top drawer is hidden in the frieze, without any hardware, opening by carved groove handles underneath the drawer front. Two pilaster columns, very unique for being forged in hollow metal not wood, flank three drawers with elegant brass ring pulls and escutcheon plates. The bases of the columns transition into thick cylindrical feet at the front. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, this antique is ready for your immediate use.
