Paul räths leipzig political globe designed by arthur krause is a political globe with a diameter of 21 centimeters in diameter, made by the company paul räths, nachf. Kg, leipzig (leipzig), ddr (east germany) and designed by arthur krause. It is in german and dates back to the 1950s. It shows the political division of the world, with the borders of the various countries and the names of the nations. It is an important cartographic tool that provides information on global political geography and is used for educational and research purposes. The map is printed on twelve segments, applied to a cardboard sphere, the globe rotates on a central axis and is supported by a turned wooden pedestal. the räth company, a globe manufacturer, was founded in 1917 by paul räth (1881-1929). After the death of its founder the company was acquired by the leipzig geographer professor doctor arthur krause. The company is still operational today, having survived two world wars and the dissolution of the gdr. Some globes from the räth company are exhibited in important museums, such as the first electrically illuminated globe from 1921, on display at the globe museum of the vienna national library.
although it is not difficult to find räths globes, the small size, the excellent condition, and the base in excellent condition that holds the globe make this globe an excellent piece of furniture, also interesting from a historical, geographical, collecting and antiquarian.
