This in an original glass bowl designed by Max Kannegiesser, between 1922 - 1988 and produced in the renown glasswork Borske Sklo, Novy Bor in former Czechoslovakia.
Max Kannegiesser was a German Speaking Czech Citizen. He studied art school in Dresden but his biggest success was at Borske Sklo glasswork. Kannegiesser talent and knowledge was immense and irreplaceable, a fact reflected in the event that the Czech government did not deport him from Czechoslovakia after the World War two like other German citizens. Max Kannegiesser is mainly famous for inventing green glaze technique and for his range of glassware called Nemo - which won the national price for best glass design and was the best selling range at the time.
Kannegiesser stayed as the head designer at Borske Sklo glasswork until 1967, when he actually decided to move to Germany after all. There he worked for Schott company together with his son.
This glass bowl showing Kannegiesser's trademark style of using different colours and circles. However what makes this piece special, is the geometry and order, that divides the piece into sections of coloured diamond shapes. That is very rarely seen in Kannegiesser's work. Overall the colour and shape scheme seems very balanced with great detail and high quality craft.
This glass bowl is in great original condition with an original company sticker. There is no damage, cracks or chips on any part of the glass.
