This magnificent, oversized handcrafted Stool showcases a stunning design of the highly symbolic drawing in Chinese culture.
The craftsmanship is of the highest quality, with each element meticulously hand-painted to highlight the fine details and vibrant colors. The large size of the stool makes it an eye-catching centerpiece for any space, whether displayed in a traditional or contemporary setting.
The fish and algae pattern reflects the ancients’ respect for and observation of nature, especially their reverence for water resources and aquatic life. Fish symbolize abundance and prosperity, as the Chinese word for “fish” is homophonous with “surplus”, conveying the wish for “abundance year after year.” Algae represent vitality and natural flourishing. Together, the fish and algae pattern embodies hopes for a bountiful harvest and symbolizes prosperity and the continuity of life.
Stool made from clear glaze over blue colour drawing which requires a second firing in the kiln, much durable and can withstand time.
it also features 2 rounds of rivets or drum nails, it is a classic element in traditional Chinese furniture design, often used to decorate ceramic stools and other items. They add texture and dimension, giving the stool a more rustic and elegant appearance. In some designs, drum nails symbolize strength and durability, originating from the use of metal rivets in ancient times. Over time, they evolved into a symbolic element representing the sturdiness of the object.
