Figureheads graced the early seafaring ships in many forms and this one belongs to the Trafalgar, a British Royal Navy 120-gun ship that was launched in 1841. This fabulous figurehead was sold in limited additions of 950 and this one is No. 72, originally designed by S. Keenan. The backstamp reads: Royal Doulton Tableware Ltd. 1980. HN 2928. Figureheads Nelson, HMS Trafalgar, launched 1841. In a limited addition of 950. No. 72. Signed with initials JP. Measurements for this fabulous creation are: Height from top to bottom=8-1/2 inches, Width=3-1/2 inches, Depth front to back=4-1/4 inches. This marvelous Royal Doulton figurehead has been well cared for, gently displayed and is in excellent vintage condition, free from chips, cracks or other imperfections.
