a rare and non traditional hand made hexagon shaped kirin vase, originated from the Yuan dynasty.
six sides with HAND drawing of landscape shown in picture 2 to 7, when rotating as in the video, it forms a continuous picture, a story telling experience, mimics viewing a scroll of ancient painting. it requires skill and planning to finish the painting on the sixth facet of the vase. The lid with its own drawing, and floral drawing at its shoulder.
“Xiangqi” ceramics or Splicing / Fusing vase are a unique type of pottery where multiple ceramic pieces are joined together to form a complete object, rather than being shaped through traditional wheel-throwing. The connecting points often have sharp edges, giving the pieces a more angular and structured look, in contrast to the smooth, rounded forms of wheel-thrown ceramics. This technique emphasizes the craft’s structural aspects and adds a distinctive charm, making each piece stand out with its own individuality and artistic appeal. Internal structure support are build in on the shoulder inside for its structural integrity.
