Dynamic and abstracted still-life artworks are the specialty of Georgia-based artist Kellie Newsome. Her work is characterized by a loose and expressive style emphasizing line structure to celebrate the details. Through layering additional texture, Newsome creates paintings with depth and liveliness.
This one-of-a-kind 15.5-inch tall by 12.5-inch wide colorful acrylic and pencil floral artwork is on canvas in a 2-inch deep gold wood frame. It is wired and ready to hang. Newsome says about her work: “Painting is my passion; I enjoy the process of capturing something beautiful and organic while creating contrast with vibrant and pastel colors combined with quiet spaces and bold mark-making. My subject matter is often plants or animals that make me feel empowered or inspired as metaphors for my own life experiences.”
Newsome was born in Columbus, Georgia, and grew up on a small farm in Alabama. The extended time she spent outdoors further inspired her love of flora and fauna. While attending Troy University, Chroma’s Atelier Interactive brand of paint began sponsoring her art practice. Her artworks have been collected across the United States as she continues to create from her studio in Columbus, Georgia. less
