Vintage Danish rosewood tambour door buffet on plinth base by Bernhard Pedersen & Son c. 1980s. BPS has been producing furniture since 1902 and to this day makes some of Denmark’s most coveted credenzas and sideboards. Their tambour doors are so precisely engineered that from a few feet away, the gaps between the slats are imperceptible.
Although sideboards are typically situated against a wall, BPS uses a fully finished back panel, sparing no expense. Details like the dovetailed joinery, felt-lined drawers, and sculpted drawer pulls further set their craftsmanship apart. The thoughtfully raised edge at the back prevents smaller items from falling behind.
The grain patterns are strikingly vivid, especially those on the tambour doors, breathing a sense of life into the piece. less
