Beautiful, and very large, vintage Murano hand blown gold flecks Italian art glass footed compote bowl. Documented to designer Ercole Barovier for Barovier e Toso, circa 1950s. The bowl has a ribbed design, and scalloped rim, with ropes of gold decoration. The technique is called "Cordonato d'Oro", and is featured in many reference books and catalogs. The piece is profusely covered in heavy gold leaf throughout the entire body of glass. It glitters whenever the gold catches the light. Would make a great display centerpiece on any dining / console table, or credenza. Use it as decorative sculptural piece, or fill it with lots of flowers or fruits. I have taken a photo with fruit so you can see how big the bowl area really is. It can accommodate a bunch of bananas, tomatoes, grapes and other fruits. Mid-century era. Measures: 11" across the top x 6 1/4" tall.
