This black-and-white photograph captures the dramatic skyline of New York City, with towering skyscrapers rising above the water. In the foreground, a ferry glides across the river, its steam billowing from the smokestack as it makes its way past the urban landscape. The sharp contrast between the modern, sleek buildings and the vintage ferry evokes a sense of nostalgia for mid-century New York, a time when the city’s waterfront was as busy and dynamic as the skyline. The image perfectly encapsulates the hustle and energy of the city, blending its iconic architecture with the timeless appeal of its waterways. This print is available as a Fine Art Print on high-quality paper (Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta) and is produced by Whitewall. Erich Andres was born in Germany in 1905 and passed away in 1992. He began his career as a photographer in 1920 and was one of the first to use a Leica camera. Today, his work is exhibited in several museums, including the Civil War Museum in Salamanca, Spain, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Germany. In 1951, Andres contributed to Edward Steichen's iconic exhibition "The Family of Man" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
