Description: This large vase with a wide neck is a production of the Accolay potters. The work of the enamel is … more This large vase with a wide neck is a production of the Accolay potters. The work of the enamel is particular, on a deep black background, the upper part of the vase is partially covered with a cloudy blue-celadon green. The shape of the vase is massive and compact, slightly ringed. The whole thing is particularly decorative.

The vase is very well made. The enamelling is nuanced and thick. It is signed Accolay in stylus on the reverse. The Accolay vase is in very good condition.

In the middle of the 20th century, Accolay was the setting for a true revolution in ceramics. Four former students of Alexandre Kostanda settled in the small village of Yonne in the mid-1940s; many potters followed their example. For around forty years, the production of Accolay potters was impressive, original and daring, characterized by thick, often speckled enamels and crazy creativity. This piece has an attribution mark,
