Description: This is a very special one of a kind antique portrait box. It's a handmade and has been created out … more This is a very special one of a kind antique portrait box. It's a handmade and has been created out of a sort of early celluloid. The top and bottom are speckled matte and the inside is glossy. The top has been carved to hold a magnificent painted portrait of Marie Antoinette under convex glass. She's posed in a pink dress set against a blue background. The fine details are impeccable from the look in her eye to the lace on her sleeve. The portrait comes off the top and the underside reads "Marie-Antoinette" in old quill pen French handwriting. The piece has been estimated to be almost 200 years old and has all original parts and is in excellent condition. Wonderful rare find for serious collectors. Measures 3" round.
