This stunning example of a Sevres urn bears the underglazed blue interlocked "L" insignia with the letter "s" signaling the creation of this hand-painted, ormalu guilded piece in 1771.

One side features a romantic couple conversing over a well with a castle in the background. The opposite side shows more of the castle with a tree in the for front. Both sides are adorned in gold paint. The piece is signed by the artist but is difficult to read. The ormalu base is stamped FRANCE. Piece likely has an ormalu top mount that is missing. It is possible that it also had a small kid as evidenced by inner rim with no glaze.
