Coral polychrome blown glass sculpture by rené roubícek (1922-2018). Origin czechoslovakia period 1960s author rené roubícek (1922-2018) was a renowned czech artist and sculptor, best known for his work with glass. Born in prague, roubícek is considered one of the pioneers of contemporary glass art. He studied at the school of applied arts in prague and began experimenting with glass in the 1940s. Roubícek achieved international fame in the 1950s thanks to his participation in expo 58 in brussels, where he presented a monumental glass sculpture that attracted much attention. His work is characterized by organic and dynamic forms, which explore the expressive possibilities of glass as an artistic material. He collaborated with numerous glassmakers and taught at the academy of fine arts in prague, influencing generations of artists. Roubícek's works have been exhibited around the world, and he has been recognized with numerous awards and honors for his contributions to glass art. Even in his late years, he continued to work and innovate, maintaining a prominent position in the international art scene until his death in 2018.
