Description: This elegant Italian hand carved marble figure was made on early 20th century, and is a copy of the famous … more This elegant Italian hand carved marble figure was made on early 20th century, and is a copy of the famous Venus De Milo marble sculpture (Aphoride of Milos in Greek), goddess of love and beauty. The original statue is one of the most famous pieces of the Louvre Museum in Paris. It was discovered on April 8, 1820 in the ancient city ruins of Milos, on the island of Milos in Greece.
It is believed that the statue was crafted between 130 B.C. and 100 B.C. by Alexander of Antioch, an artist who lived during the Hellenistic period. In the past, it was mistakenly attributed to the famous sculptor Praxiteles of Athens.
